AuroraPH, the flagship education program of Aboitiz Foundation in partnership with the Department of Education, brings solar energy and internet connectivity to last-mile schools across the country. Originally intended for off-grid areas, it now supports on-grid schools like BGSHS by lowering electricity costs and expanding online access for students and teachers—while championing clean, renewable energy.

As part of the program’s implementation, Aboitiz Construction and Aboitiz Foundation installed a 5kWp solar panel system at BGSHS to enhance digital learning and reduce the school’s power expenses.

“At Aboitiz Construction, we build for businesses to prosper and communities to thrive. Today, that purpose shines through the solar panels now powering your classrooms. This initiative is a clear example of how construction can go beyond physical structures to leave a lasting, positive impact on lives and the environment”, said Aboitiz Constructions Senior AVP for Business Transformation, Karmine Andrea Ching.

BGSHS Principal Sheryll Duque said the project will significantly improve both teaching and learning. “Now that we have a reliable source of power, our students can continue learning without worrying about power interruptions. This project is a big help in ensuring that our classes run smoothly and our learning resources are always accessible.”

Tarlac City Mayor Susan Yap also underscored the role of collaboration: “Efforts like these show how public-private partnerships can transform communities and shape a better future for our youth.”

Since its launch in 2024, AuroraPH has energized 12 schools and nearly 2,500 students across Benguet, Bataan, Cebu,  Davao City, and Zambales. It aims to reach 100 schools by the end of 2025 and 300 by 2027.

“Through AuroraPH, we aim to eliminate disruptions caused by power outages and help create a more enabling, empowered learning environment for every student and teacher.,” said Aboitiz Foundation’s Impact Lead for Education, Jowelle Ann Cruz.

Aboitiz Construction has also played an active role in advancing education in Tarlac. Since last year, the company has supported Brigada Eskwela activities in several public schools and constructed eco-stations for a school in Barangay Lourdes—projects that raise awareness on plastic waste management and environmental stewardship.

Following the turnover, BGSHS staff received operations and maintenance training from A+ Power Services Inc., a retail arm of AboitizPower. Teachers also underwent a financial literacy session, Project Pera-parasyon, led by CitySavings.
